Well role playing is kind of like a forum game almost but not the same some one can make up a story and other members can join along in the story with a character and they can have jobs or they can battle other people EX:

Me: So john is walking down the street when he sees a monster *he thinks to him self* DAMN IT! john starts to run away *john says* DIE!!!!! *yawn*

Thats what role playing is
